Software QA, testing and maintenance
A bug in production costs more than catching it earlier. I worked in QA and validation tooling at a fintech company, and I apply the same approach to your system: API and regression testing, static code analysis, bug fixing and maintenance so each change does not break what already worked.
This is a fit if…
- Every update to your system breaks something that used to work.
- You are about to launch and there are no automated tests for the important flows.
- You inherited an undocumented system and the person who built it is gone.
- You need someone to handle bugs and small improvements on an ongoing basis.
What you get
- System assessment: risks, technical debt and priority bugs.
- Automated API and regression tests (Pytest or the project's existing tools).
- Static analysis and dependency review with prioritized findings.
- Tests wired into CI so they run on every change.
- Bug fixes and a maintenance log.
How I work
- 01
Assessment
I review the code, deployment and known bugs to understand what is at risk and what to address first.
- 02
Safety net
I write tests for critical flows before touching the code, so we know whether a change breaks something.
- 03
Fixes
I address bugs by priority, each fix accompanied by its test.
- 04
Ongoing maintenance
If you need it, we agree on a monthly block of hours for bugs, updates and improvements.
What I need from you
- Access to the repository and, ideally, a staging environment.
- The list of known bugs and the flows that matter most to the business.
- Test credentials, never real customer accounts.
Good to know
- This is not a certified security audit or a penetration test.
- For very large systems, the initial assessment focuses on critical modules.
- If the system uses technologies outside my experience, I will say so in the assessment.

Freelance developer vs agency: how to choose (and where nearshore fits)
Hire a freelance developer when the project is well defined, fits one person's skills and you want direct communication at a lower rate. Hire an agency when you need several specialists at once, committed capacity or managed delivery. Nearshore developers in Mexico or Latin America can be either, with the advantage of working in your time zone.
Software qualityWhat is software QA testing, and how do you know your system needs it?
Software QA (quality assurance) is the set of practices that make sure software works as intended before it reaches users: defining what "correct" means, testing features and integrations, automating regression checks and catching security issues early. If every release breaks something that used to work, or nobody can say what was tested, your system needs QA.
Frequently asked questions
What kind of testing do you do?
API testing (endpoints, contracts and error handling), regression tests for critical flows, data validation and static code analysis. They plug into the deployment pipeline so they run automatically.
Do you work on systems you did not build?
Yes, it is one of the most common cases. I first document how it works and protect it with tests before changing it.
Should we fix our system or rebuild it?
It depends on how healthy its foundation is. If problems are concentrated in specific areas, fixing is cheaper and safer. If every change breaks something different and the technology is no longer supported, rebuilding in stages may make sense. The assessment answers that with evidence.
How is maintenance billed?
Usually as a monthly block of hours based on system size and change frequency, or per project for one-off fixes.
